Church Teaching on Child Abuse

"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. " (Ephesians 6:4)
"Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged. " (Colossians 3:21)

The Catholic Church has zero tolerance for child abuse. Any abuse on children weather it be physical, verbal, or sexual will scar a child all their lives. Abuse is the violation of love and of the child. God gave families their children to love and respect them, and to raise them in the light of God. By abusing them you are committing a serious sin. Since all people are made in God's image and likeness abuse against a child is the abuse against God. We has Christians are called to protect the people in our lives, and if we can do anything to help someone in need we should. If anyone knows someone who is being abused you should do anything in your power to help them, because everyone should know they are not alone, people are here to support them.
